It was a full class for artist Lorraine Gahagan's workshop on February 20th and 21st. UDAS Members watched Lorraine's techniques for tackling the painting of big skies in acrylic. She placed her canvas on the floor then proceeded to cover the canvas in gesso and appropriate colours. These were then massaged into the canvas using her hands to build up layers. Members then went on to start their own paintings and found the massaging technique most therapeutic.
Throughout the two days Lorraine gave demonstrations, shared tips and spoke about the paintings she had brought with her. She was a most encouraging tutor and despite the size of the group all participants felt Lorraine spent quality time with them, discussing individual paintings. The UDAS class benefitted from learning of Lorraine's approach to painting and would welcome a return visit.
