Happy New Year to all UDAS members. Hopefully 2023 will be a bit more tranquil with some good news items and not just depressing ones.
I have been conspicuous by my absence I’m afraid. I developed anxiety and depression in early Summer 2021 and really toiled to rise above it. However with lots of help and the patience of family and a few close friends I am feeling much more like myself. It has been the opposite of fun as some of you who have had similar experiences will know.
I hadn’t picked up a paintbrush or pencil until a month ago and went back to my ‘go to’ medium- pastel! this is one I’ve just finished - it’s of the boathouse on the Queen’s Loch in Birse, a stone’s throw from our house.
(Sennelier pastels and velour pastel paper.)
My thanks to the rest of the committee for running UDAS so efficiently and well ☺️
That’s lovely Mary.
Tricky pastels. Hope painting again is uplifting.
Best wishes x
Beautifully loose, Mary. And I love the colours. So pleased that you’re feeling a bit better…..it’s a long road.
What a gorgeous picture Mary. These sennelier pastels are lovely to work with! I’m so happy for you that you are feeling more yourself now and able to get back to painting. Wishing you good health and much happiness in 2023.

Happy New Year to you and the family. A very uplifting picture, full of colour and life, worthy of lots of return visits like Monet and his "Haystacks"
Well done! Ian
Lovely painting Mary so atmospheric. I am glad to hear you are painting after a difficult time. Picking up a brush again is such an escape.
All the best for the coming year.
