About the Event

Stephen Redpath, Landscape Artist

I retired in 2019 and have been painting ever since.

Mostly, I work in watercolour because I love its luminosity, its  immediacy and its unpredictability I rely extensively on direct  observation in the field, but I also work in the studio, drawing heavily  on memories, feelings and an emotional response to the natural world.

Emotion is at the heart of my paintings.

”They are at once so confident and free, and, quite often, simply  beautiful, in a spontaneous, almost breath-taking way.”   —Julian  Spalding, Art Curator and Writer

WORKSHOP DETAILS

Stephen is then tutoring a one-day workshop on Watercolour Painting Techniques between 10 am and 4 pm on Saturday 25th February in the Aboyne Bowling Club hut.

A maximum of 12 students will be  seated, 2 per table, at 6 tables, and hot drinks will be available at  the venue.

Students should provide their own snacks, lunch and cold  refreshments and will be expected to bring their own paint and paper,  stretched or on a block, plus easels, brushes and plastic covering/newspapers to protect the table tops.

A more detailed list of  materials will be provided nearer the time. It is proposed to hold a  group discussion at the end of the workshop.

The cost of this one-day  workshop is £25 for members and £30 for non-members, and booking is on a  first-come first-served basis, with members taking preference.

Please  bring with you a cheque made out to UDAS or cash on the day.

Stephen has asked that all attendees test negative for Covid 19 before coming to the demonstration and/or workshop.
